One of the highly anticipated launches is the Tata Punch EV. This compact SUV, built on Tata’s ALFA platform, will be positioned as the most budget-friendly electric SUV in India. It is expected to offer two battery pack options, with the long-range variant delivering a range of up to 315 km per charge.
Maruti Suzuki will also be entering the EV space with the eVX electric SUV. Designed from the ground up as an EV, the eVX is expected to have a range of around 550 km, thanks to its 60 kWh battery pack. There may also be a smaller battery option for the entry-level variant.
Chinese EV maker BYD is set to unveil its electric sedan, the Seal, in India by mid-2024. The Seal is based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and will come with two battery options, offering ranges of 550 km and up to 700 km on a single charge. The sedan also boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds.
Mahindra, a key player in the EV market, is planning to launch the XUV300 EV, a budget-friendly option to compete with the Nexon EV. While detailed specifications are currently unavailable, the XUV300 EV is expected to have a smaller battery than its predecessor, the XUV400.
Another upcoming Mahindra EV is the XUV.e8, which is part of the company’s next-gen born electric vehicle lineup. This electric SUV is expected to feature an 80 kWh battery and offer two power outputs – 230 hp and 350 hp. The range is speculated to be up to 450 km, and there may be a twin-motor setup for all-wheel-drive capability.Tata Motors, a leader in the Indian EV market, is not resting on its laurels. The company plans to bring the Harrier EV to the production line soon, with two battery pack options and possibly an all-wheel-drive system. The top-spec variant of the Harrier EV is expected to offer a range of 500 km on a single charge. There are also speculations about an electric version of the Safari.Lastly, Tata’s upcoming electric SUV, the Curvv, is set to debut in the middle of next year. It is expected to have a range of 400-500 km on a single charge and feature a dual-motor setup for all-wheel drive. While specific details are not known yet, the Curvv is likely to have a larger battery pack compared to the Nexon.
