Bored with your current lineup of channels? There’s good news with Sky and Freeview users being offered a new service that won’t cost a penny extra to watch. That’s TV 2 is set to go live today, January 3, with the platform offering a swathe of classic shows and nostalgic box sets including episodes of lifeguard drama Baywatch, Channel 4’s award-winning series Humans and other programmes including Prisoner: Cell Block H.
And that’s not all, to coincide with Home and Away’s 35th year anniversary in the UK, That’s TV 2 is also dedicating air time to the Australian soap opera’s first-ever season which was broadcast in Britain all the way back in 1989.
If the name of this new channel sounds familiar, that’s no surprise. That’s TV 2 now joins its sister channel, That’s TV, which has featured on your telly guide for a number of years.
Speaking about the launch, That’s TV’s head of programming Kris Vaiksalu said: “Over the past year That’s TV has reached new heights and we now have a schedule bursting with iconic TV shows from Benidorm to Shameless. There are so many more iconic TV shows we would love to show but we had simply run out of hours to fit them in. So I asked myself, what would Einstein do?
“It’s been a lot of work but we’re hugely excited and privileged to be launching That’s TV 2 as our second archive TV channel.
“Our aim is to make it a complete nostalgia-fest with such iconic shows from the beginning as Home and Away, Humans, Prisoner: Cell Block H and Baywatch. That’s TV 2 does what it says on the tin – it’s a second helping of iconic TV from the That’s TV team.”
So where will you find this classic content?
That’s TV 2 will launch today, January 3 and can be found on Freeview Channel 65 and Freesat Channel 181. Sky Q users will discover it when heading to Channel 188.
If you use Freeview to watch telly you might need to retune your box or TV to get access to That’s TV 2.
HOW TO RETUNE YOUR FREEVIEW TV
Freeview has issued advice on how to retune devices and here are the steps every user needs to follow.
• Press menu on your box or TV remote control
• Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’ or a similar option. If you’re asked for a password, the default code is ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
• Select ‘first-time installation’ (sometimes called ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’ or ‘default settings’).
•Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks if it’s OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you’re prompted to, save the channels that are found.
