Freeview and Sky boost as much-requested channel launches on your TV for free

There’s good news for Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media users with UK homes being treated to much-requested new TV channel. This update to UK screens comes via the team at That’s TV with the provider switching things up to bring some festive content into living rooms. The new channel, called That’s Christmas, is available right now and is showing back to back shows, movies and music all with a holiday season theme.

This month’s content includes Goodnight Sweetheart Xmas 95, Best Xmas Music, Birds of a Feather Xmas 2020, and classic comedy from Carry On Christmas Carol.

There shouldn’t be any need to retune or update your TVs/set-top boxes with the changes happening automatically. In fact, That’s Christmas replaces That’s TV 3 on the current planner with things then switching back in January.

According to That’s TV, the return of Christmas content has been a hotly requested feature.

“Viewers have been writing to us all year with their programming wishes and we know there is a real sense of anticipation for the launch of That’s Christmas,” said Kris Vaiksalu, Head of Programming at That’s Christmas.

“Part of what makes Christmas such a special time of year is knowing the evenings will be lit up with some of the greatest TV shows ever made. There are so many special anniversaries we wanted to mark this year with it being the 50th year since Selwyn Froggitt, the 40th since Rising Damp and the 35th since A Bit of A Do and Stay Lucky. We’re excited to be able to showcase these all-time classics, representing an important part of our national TV heritage, as part of our comedy festival this Christmas season.”

If you want to tune in you’ll find That’s Christmas on Freeview channel 71, Sky channel 191 and Virgin channel 296.

Along with That’s Christmas, it was also recently confirmed that the Great! Christmas channel has also returned to screens ahead of the festive period with shows being beamed to screens all day and night until January.

If it’s not too early for some Christmas cheer then you’ll find this service on Freeview channel 52 – it replaces GREAT! Romance which is currently in that slot.

“The home of Christmas – from September to December! Underneath our tree it’s fit to burst with great Christmas films, ranging from Christmas classics to hidden festive treats,” the team at GREAT! explained.

“And with the biggest collection of Christmas movies on TV, we have enough festive content to keep you in the festive spirit right up to the big day. Together we’ll have a great Christmas.”
