Four ingredients to add to your hot drinks to help blast stubborn fat


Our weight is an important factor in our overall health and wellbeing.

Being both under and overweight can put us at a significantly increased risk for various dangerous conditions.

As an example, obesity is a major cause of type 2 diabetes among other complications.

And having too much visceral fat around your waist has been linked to heart disease and even cancer.

However, losing weight can be difficult, often requiring us to make lasting changes to our lifestyle habits such as our diet and exercise routine.

But experts have suggested there is a way to help speed along weight loss efforts by making just a small addition to your drinks.

Coffee experts at Beanies, recommended four tasty ingredients that could do just this.

Lemon coffee

While lemon tea has long been a favourite, lemon coffee is a more recent fad.

The experts said: “In isolation, both ingredients have clear health benefits. Lemon is a known toxin-flushing ingredient which can also boost your immune system and reduce heart disease.

“One of the key reasons for the popularity of the trend is the belief that the drink can kickstart your metabolism.

“Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which aids the body’s natural fat-burning processes, while coffee can stimulate brown adipose tissue, which plays a key role in how quickly we can burn calories as energy.”

However, they warned that this is “no fat-melting super solution” and shouldn’t be substituted for a healthy, balanced diet and plenty of exercise.

“There’s still no harm in trying it out for yourself, however, and it’s well worth experimenting with some recipes to tantalise the tastebuds and potentially promote your wellbeing,” they said.

“For the more classic experience, brew your favourite coffee, then slice and squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the mug. Stir well and enjoy the zesty goodness.

“Optionally, add a teaspoon of honey for extra sweetness.”

Cinnamon

This spice has a fragrant aroma and a warm sweet flavour, but it has potential health perks too.

The experts said: “Cinnamon contains antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and may even help to stabilise blood sugar.

“Sprinkle some on top of your coffee or stir in for the full aromatic experience.”

Cardamom

This Asian spice will add a distinct and exotic taste to your coffee.

“This spice has been linked to various health benefits, including improved digestion and metabolism,” they said.

“Crush a few cardamom pods and brew them with your coffee.”

Coconut

The experts added: “A dash of coconut oil in your coffee can provide a creamy texture and a subtle tropical flavour.

“Coconut is known for its ‘thermogenic’ properties, which can aid fat burning.”
