TIRUPATI: The Andhra Pradesh government has stripped former MLC Mareddy Ravindranath Reddy, also known as ‘B Tech’ Ravi, of the security cover provided to him.
Ravi who continues as Telugu Desam party’s Pulivendula constituency in-charge enjoyed 2+2 gunmen in the past during the TDP regime.
Confirming the development to reporters, Ravi alleged that the YSRCP government which first trimmed his security cover to 1+1 gunmen from 2+2, has now completely withdrawn the security cover provided to him.
“I will take up the matter to the notice of the higher-ups in the police department and will also seek the intervention of the judiciary on the issue,” he told reporters.
The development comes just a day ahead of the scheduled visit of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu to Kadapa on Tuesday to review the party’s performance in the five parliamentary constituencies of Kadapa, Anantapur, Hindupur, Kurnool and Nandyal.
Meanwhile, according to sources in the police department, the security cover provided to B Tech Ravi was withdrawn as his tenure as an MLC ended on March 29.
