Forget your PS5 – Iconic gaming device is back to offer the ultimate experience

PlayStation and Xbox might rule the roost when it comes to playing the latest titles but these much-loved consoles are about to face some stiff competition. US PC maker Dell has just announced that it is bringing back the popular Alienware Area-51 brand which includes a powerful new desktop and two laptops that are all built for gaming. Area 51 devices first launched all the way back in 1998 before being retired in 2017.

Now, the team behind these PCs are returning to their roots to launch devices that “cater to the desires of PC gaming enthusiasts”.

The Area-51 Desktop gets a striking new see-through Gorilla Glass design that lets you peer inside. There are also customisable AlienFX lighting zones with over 16.7 million colors and six different lighting effects to add some style to your desk.

It’s also powered by the latest NVIDIA Blackwell, GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU and has liquid cooling to keep things from getting hot under pressure.

Upgradeability is an integral part of the Area-51 customer experience and that’s good news if you don’t want to keep buying a new machine every few years.

To help users switch things up, there are QR codes found inside the chassis which guide owners to complete updates, repairs and modifications of key components.

You can add up to 8TB of storage to hold your massive library of games and the machine has been built using recycled materials. The Area-51 Desktop will be before the spring and cost around $5,000.

If that massive 80L tower sounds too big for your living space Alienware is also launching two new Area-51 laptops as well.

They come in 18-inch and 16-inch sizes, feature impressive NVIDIA power and get an intricate thermal architecture which enables them to move up to 35 percent more air through the system while being 15 percent quieter.

There’s also a new ‘Zero Hinge’ design for a cleaner look and you get Aurora lighting effects when you boot things up.

“The brand-new Area-51 laptops are designed to evoke a sense of mystery and transcendence that is distinctly alien,” the team explained. “They represent the next step in our ever-evolving design journey and mark a new era for Alienware.”

The new Area-51 laptops will also be available soon.
