Ford has issued a recall for more than 175,500 of its Bronco SUV over an issue with the front-seat seat belts that could make it difficult to buckle up.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2021-23 five-door Bronco SUVs. The issue is with the driver and front passenger seat belt latch plates, which may be difficult for occupants to access when in a stowed position. Difficulty in accessing seat belts may result in occupants not wearing them, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
To resolve the issue, dealers will add a sliding clip latch stop to the driver and front passenger seat belts (at no charge to the owner). Ford will begin notifying owners June 30, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 23C16), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
