Food delivery giant Zomato gets government nod for name change to Eternal Ltd

Deepinder Goyal-led food delivery firm Zomato confirmed the approval by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) on the name change of the company to Eternal Limited, with effect from March 20, 2025.

“The name of the company, thus, stands amended to “Eternal Limited” with effect from March 20, 2025, and the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the company stands altered to the extent of the change of name of the company,” Zomato said in a regulatory filing.

This follows the update earlier this month, where the shareholders of the Gurugram-based company had sought its shareholders’ nod to change the name of its parent entity to Eternal Ltd, ET reported.

The company is rebranding itself for the second time. It was founded as Foodiebay in 2008 and was renamed Zomato in 2010.

The move highlights the company’s expansion beyond food delivery, with Blinkit (quick commerce), Hyperpure (B2B food supply), and District (dining and events) serving as key pillars of its diversified business model.

As part of this transition, Zomato will shift its corporate website from zomato.com to eternal.com and update its stock ticker from ZOMATO to ETERNAL, CNBC reported.
