LET’S make food fun again this half-term.
School’s out, and there are plenty of ways to make lunchtime exciting.
Try these creative, budget ideas to make meals enjoyable for the whole family.
A CUT ABOVE: Swap square sarnies for cool shapes to make your kids smile.
Use biscuit cutters and a bit of creativity to make hearts, stars, dinosaurs and rocket ships — the possibilities are endless.
You can also use smaller cookie cutters pressed into slices of cucumber and carrot for a healthy, crunchy snack.

PARTY TIME: Got paper plates and leftover party supplies hiding in the cupboard? Use colourful plates, cups and napkins to transform your dining table.
You could also set up a party activity such as colouring-in stations while they eat.
PICNIC PERFECT: Rainy days call for indoor picnics.
Lay down a cosy picnic blanket and cushions and put finger foods into snazzy storage tubs.
Another option is to make kids their own lunchbox for a proper picnic experience.
PIZZA PARLOUR: Why not transform your kitchen into a mini pizza parlour and let the little chefs in the house work their own magic?
Set up food stations across a worktop for the base, sauce and an array of toppings. Pitta bread makes for a fantastic budget-friendly pizza crust, and kids will have a blast crafting their own masterpieces.
TACO TABLE: Make lunch a magical Mexican fiesta.
Cover your dining table in foil or greaseproof paper and assemble a DIY taco spread.
Place meat in the centre then pile up shredded lettuce, heaps of grated cheese and surround it all with crunchy tortilla chips.
The family can roll up their sleeves and pick and choose what they want. The mess is all part of the fun.
