Because everyone knows glitter and glue is a match made in heaven . . .

HEART GARLAND: Cut out heart shapes from greaseproof paper, printer paper or card and use a hole puncher or blunt pencil to make a hole.

Decorate with red and pink paint, glitter or just some felt tip pens before stringing them on ribbon and hanging in the window for a cute and colourful display.

Top up the craft box with a reel of decorative ribbon, £1, Poundland.

LOVE BUGS: Cut out an oval shape from pink or red card.

Glue pipe cleaners and pom-poms on as antennae to create adorable, insect-like creatures that can be used as toys or decorations — or given to much-loved grandparents.

HANDPRINT HEART CARDS: Kids can dip their hands in water-based pink or red paint, put their wrists together and push hands flat on to the centre of a piece of card to create a heart-shaped print.

Once dry, fold in half and decorate the front, or write “Happy Valentine’s Day”.

The result will be a really sweet card for any parent or grandparent.

SAY IT WITH CAKE: Pick up an easy Betty Crocker red velvet cake kit from Tesco for £3, then pop into B&M for the Betty Crocker heart-shaped springform baking tin, £1.49.

Get the kids to help mix the batter while an adult bakes, decorate with buttercream and use the coloured icing writing tubes from Asda, £2 for four, to add a personalised, “I love you” message on top.

LOVE LINKS: Forget expensive jewellery and instead grab a pack of penne (79p, Aldi) or use any tubular-shaped pasta from your kitchen cupboard.
Coat the pasta using pink and red poster paints then lace through some string or ribbon to create a necklace or bracelet that’s made with love.
