“We are determined to help India leap forward into a digital future. We’re working tirelessly to ensure the government’s vision of a Digital Bharat becomes a reality. Our commitment is to bring secure, user-friendly digital payment solutions to every corner of the country, democratising financial services for all,” FidyPay Founder and CEO Manan Dixit said in a statement.
“We believe that enabling every Panchayat with UPI is a significant step towards a cashless economy. We are confident that our ready-to-deploy solutions can help streamline payments processes and improve efficiency in all Panchayats, and we are excited to be a part of this important initiative,” added Dixit.
Meanwhile, all panchayats across the country will mandatorily use digital payments for all development work and revenue collection this Independence Day onwards, and will be declared UPI-enabled. States should “announce and inaugurate” the UPI-compliant panchayats in the presence of prominent dignitaries, like chief ministers, MPs, and MLAs, Panchayati Raj ministry had told States and Union Territories in January this year.
The government data shows that 806.3 crore transactions worth Rs 12.98 lakh crore were made through BHIM in January 2023 alone. The contribution of rural and peri-urban areas in digital transactions stands at nearly 50%.
