Fayetteville Techical Community College announced Sunday they will be implementing extra security measures after receiving threats at the school through social media.
According to the school, the threats also came through via email. The school did not elaborate on what the threats said.
“The college has reached out on this matter to students faculty and staff and is working to address the threat in conjunction with the Fayetteville Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation,” the school said in a statement.
FTCC Tech said they will operate normally on Monday, but with heightened security measures:
- Limited acces to college buildings, main doors will be the only public points of entry.
- Increased presence on school properties by campus security and local police.
- Required, visible display of college ID badges at all times by faculty and staff.
The school is asking students to be aware of their surroundings and to call campus security at 910-678-8433.
Anyone with information on the threats is asked to call FTCC’s Public Safety and Security office at 910-678-8433 and the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1529.
