Explore science, technology, engineering and math at College of DuPage's STEMCON on April 27 – Daily Herald


Emily Calandrelli, host of the Netflix series “Emily’s Wonder Lab,” will be the keynote speaker at College of DuPage’s STEMCON on Saturday, April 27.

STEMCON, the annual exploration of science, technology, engineering and math, returns to the College of DuPage on Saturday, April 27.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in COD’s Physical Education Center, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Visitors will experience hands-on activities at a variety of indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits including model rockets, composting activities, welding simulators, fossil exploration, telescopes, chromatography and more.

Exhibitions are run by actual researchers, industry representatives and STEM educators.

STEMCON also will feature a keynote discussion by Emily Calandrelli, host of Netflix’s “Emily’s Wonder Lab” and FOX’s “Xploration Outer Space,” at 12:30 p.m. in the McAninch Arts Center’s Belushi Performance Hall. Doors open at noon. Seating is first-come, first-served. A book signing will follow.

After Calandrelli’s keynote presentation, there will be a demonstration from Mr. Freeze of Fermilab at 3 p.m. on the MAC stage highlighting the entertaining properties of cryogenics and extreme cold using liquid nitrogen.
