Excitement builds for Sunday’s Ironman race | News, Sports, Jobs – The Adirondack Daily Enterprise

Spectators and athletes mill around the Lake Placid Ironman transition area on Friday at the Olympic Speedskating Oval. While the area is currently home to vendors and tents, on Sunday it will be where athletes transition from the Ironman’s swim portion to its bike leg, and then to the running portion.

Spectators, athletes and rubberneckers mill around the Ironman Village Friday at the Olympic Speedskating Oval in Lake Placid. While the area is currently home to vendors and tents, on Sunday it will be where athletes transition from the Ironman’s 2.4-mile swim portion to its 112-mile bike, then to its 26.2-mile run, and then cross the finish line.
