ET MSME Day 2023: Building future-ready MSMEs to power the India@100 dream

India’s roadmap to being a developed nation by 2047 rests largely on the shoulders of the millions of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). With over 63 million MSMEs spread across India, the small businesses contribute nearly 40% to India’s exports, about 6.11% to the country’s manufacturing GDP, and 24.63% to the GDP from services sector.

The Indian MSME industry, a key pillar of India’s economic growth, is expected to play a crucial role in realising the vision of a self-reliant country — Atmanirbhar Bharat — and defining the roadmap for India@100. But to do that, experts agree that more needs to be done to create an enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem to accelerate the growth of MSMEs and improve their competitiveness in the global market.

To promote, recognise, and strengthen the Indian MSME industry, the Economic Times will undertake a series of year-long initiatives — ET MSME Day 2023 Virtual Conclave; ET Make in India Regional Summits; and the ET MSME Awards. The aim behind this initiative is to enable the rise of future-ready MSMEs that can power the nation’s India@100 dream.
