ET MSME Awards: Grand Finale event celebrates excellence in the MSME sector, awards 26 micro, small, medium enterprises


The Grand Finale event of the ET MSME Awards 2022-23, which was held on March 3 at New Delhi, was a celebration of the success of the Indian MSME sector, with 26 micro, small, and medium enterprises recognized across a range of award categories for demonstrating excellence in business performance and contributing to the growth of the Indian economy.

Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Minister of State, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India and BB Swain, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India were among the other delegates, MSME industry leaders, and ecosystem stakeholders present at the Grand Finale event of the ET MSME Awards.

At the Grand Finale event of the ET MSME Awards, India’s most comprehensive and influential MSME awards, 26 Indian MSMEs were felicitated for their success achieved at both the national and international level. The event also featured keynotes and panel discussions on themes of key importance to the Indian MSME sector as policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders shared actionable insights, strategies and solutions to boost and strengthen the global competitiveness of the MSME sector, regarded as the growth engine of the Indian economy.

“There are 6.3 crore MSMEs in the country and the sector employs 11 crore people. They have a 1/3rd contribution to India’s GDP and 48% of exports are via this sector,” said Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, MoS, MSME Ministry, Govt. of India during his opening keynote address at Grand Finale. He further elaborated on how the government has ensured the growth and success of the MSME enterprises through initiatives like the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) and Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) schemes along with the announcements made for the MSMEs in the Union Budget for FY 2023-24.

“Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the cost for financial assistance has increased from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 50 lakh for new manufacturing units and from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh for new service units. This will help to build businesses as well as employ people,” he added.

In a panel discussion at the event, Yogesh Agarwal, Co-Founder, Onsurity and Harish Laddha, CEO – Emerging Business, Airtel Business spotlighted how ‘How small businesses can stay relevant in a changing world.’ In a second power-packed panel discussion, Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General, Federation of Indian Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME), Amrit Manwani, Chairman, ESSCI, and Chairman & MD of Sahasra Electronics and Infopower Technologies; Vivek Agarwal, Partner and Lead – Industrial and Infrastructure Development, Government and Public Services, KPMG India; and, Kiran Todi, CFO, ASHV elaborated on how ‘The road to a $5-trillion economy rests on a $2-trillion MSME sector.’ The recently concluded third edition of the ET MSME Awards 2022 was powered by Onsurity, with Dubai as Growth Partner; Godrej Capital and Zoom as Platinum Partners; Airtel Business, Vivriti Capital, and MIDC as Gold Partners; IndusInd Bank as Banking Partner; ECGC Ltd as Silver Partner; India SME Accelerator Network as Evaluation Partner; and, SMERA as Evaluation Partner.
