Emergency doctor warns women can have a heart attack and not even know it – signs to spot

A heart attack is a life-threatening medical emergency that occurs when the supply of blood to the heart is cut off. In many cases this is due to a blood clot.

Due to the area of the body affected many of us are aware of some of the most common symptoms. These include things such as chest pain – or angina.

However, not everyone experiences the same warning signs. In fact, men and women can notice different symptoms.

For this reason, many women may not even realise when they are suffering from a heart attack, one doctor warned.

Speaking on TikTok, emergency doctor Dr Joe Whittington revealed some of the less obvious signs of a heart attack. These are more likely to occur in women than men, he said.
