Egyptian Offensive Security Startup Buguard Secures $500,000 in … – Tech in Africa

Buguard, an Egypt-based firm focusing on offensive security and dark web monitoring, has received $500,000 in early funding. Will strengthen their workforce and allow them to focus on product enhancement, sales, and collaboration channels.

A15, a prominent venture capital entity in the MENA known for backing early-stage ventures, spearheaded this investment. The funding round also saw contributions from angel investors.

Since its inception in 2021, Buguard has operated on self-funding, marking this their inaugural external investment.

Initiated by Youssef Mohamed in 2021, Buguard’s consulting roster boasts senior offensive security engineers and skilled security analysts.

The startup offers various offensive security services, including threat intelligence, red teaming, phishing simulations, compromise evaluations, penetration tests, and vulnerability analyses.

Cybercriminals often exploit the dark web, an obscured part of the internet, to disseminate malware that captures usernames, passwords, and credit card details.

Such incursions can result in significant setbacks, causing financial damage, tarnishing reputations, and eroding stakeholder confidence.

Buguard’s founder and CTO, Youssef Mohamed, expressed, “We’re excited about our successful fundraising and extend our gratitude to A15 for their tremendous backing. The realm of dark web cyber threats is ever-evolving, tangible, and escalating. Any business can fall prey, and readiness is paramount. At Buguard, we’ve meticulously selected a team comprising some global forefront security experts and engineers. Together with our subscription-based SaaS offering, Dark Atlas, we aim to surpass the scope and depth of current market alternatives.”

Boasting a diverse international clientele, Buguard serves customers in countries including Saudi Arabia, the United States, France, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.
