DWP and HMRC early Easter payment dates this week

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has brought forward payment dates for some State Pension and benefit recipients due to the Easter bank holiday weekend. This year, Easter Sunday falls on April 20, which means that those who would usually receive payments on Good Friday or the following Monday may encounter changes.

A DWP spokesperson confirmed: “To make sure people get their payment on a day when our offices are open, arrangements have been made to make some payments early.”

As a result, any benefits typically due on those specific dates will be moved up to Thursday, April 17.

Furthermore, the DWP has notified the public that Jobcentres, its other offices, and helplines will close for the holidays on Good Friday and bank holiday Monday but will reopen on Tuesday, April 22.

In tandem with the DWP‘s announcement, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has also signalled alterations in payment schedules due to Easter, reports the Daily Record.

Payments including State Pension, Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Child Benefits, and Attendance Allowance, which might ordinarily be expected on Friday, April 18, or Monday, April 21, are slated to arrive in accounts earlier on Thursday, April 17.
