Delhi discoms, UP's NPCL top performance ratings of power distribution companies

New Delhi: Delhi’s BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd, BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Company and Noida Power Company Ltd have topped the ratings of the power distribution companies in the country in FY23.

Power minister RK Singh, launched the consumer service ratings of discoms, covering performance of discoms for FY 23 while taking a review meeting of the sector on Friday.

“As per the ratings, NPCL, BRPL, BYPL and TPDDL have achieved A+ (highest) ranking among all the 62 rated discoms in the country,” the power ministry said. Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra’s power distribution companies were rated among the next best with an ‘A’ rating.

Singh emphasised on increasing Roof Top Solar installations in the country and on interventions required from states and discoms and the Centre for simplifying roof top solar installations. He also said that tariffs should be reflective of cost of supply and should be up to date. Realistic and prudent loss reduction trajectories should be adopted by power sector regulators to ensure viability of distribution companies. The companies were advised to adopt prepaid smart metering and on priority for government offices, to overcome the issue of outstanding government department dues.
