Over the footage he wrote: “Small winter life hack: Rub some vaseline on the edges of your car door to prevent it from freezing.”

This isn’t the only time a motorist has shared defrosting tips recently.

One woman revealed how an important eight to ten minute window is the key to quickly defrosting your car.

The woman – called @almabenitezx on the platform – shared a video demonstrating her helpful hack – and it has since racked up nearly 25,000 likes.

She starts by saying: “Get ready to be in your car at least eight to ten minutes before you start driving.”

Next she turns the car heater on full, the fan on number three and presses the rear window defrost button.

Then, after waiting for roughly eight minutes, the frost is “like water” and she is able to “swipe it away.”

And cleaning whizz, Steve Benson, took to social media to share a genius 5p defrosting hack.

All you need is a dash of methylated spirits – which will only cost you 5p if you buy a £5 bottle from your local supermarket.

The content creator, also known as @neonretrofurniture, posted a TikTok video explaining how to use it.

Steve said: “Do you want to know the best thing to clean your frozen windscreen with? Clear the ice off your car in seconds with this.”

In the video, the car owner shows his windscreen completely frozen.

He then proceeds to splash the mix on the iced windshield – which then appears to instantly melt on the video.

When he jumps back into his vehicle and puts the windscreen wipers on to clean all the extra liquid.

In the clip he said: “Sorted! Lovely job.”
