Dallas Cowboys' Star development in Frisco lands major McAfee office – The Dallas Morning News

The Dallas Cowboys’ Star development in Frisco has landed another corporate move.

Global tech firm McAfee Corp. is putting a regional headquarters in the newest office tower in the mixed-use project on the Dallas North Tollway.

The California-based security software firm is leasing 30,000 square feet in the high-rise at 17 Cowboys Way, according to planning documents filed with the state.

Architect Gensler is designing the space, which McAfee will occupy starting in the middle of this year.

“We’re looking forward to partnering closely with the city of Frisco and Frisco Economic Development Corp. as we become one of Frisco’s newest corporate citizens,” McAfee’s Benni Bueckert said in a statement.

Bueckert, the company’s vice president of global real estate and workplace strategy, said McAfee chose Frisco because of “the diverse cultural destination the city has become,” as well as opportunities for employees to become involved in the community.

“We believe we all have a responsibility to help shape our local communities and to make a difference,” Bueckert said.

McAfee plans to create, staff and maintain up to 100 full-time jobs in Frisco, city officials say.

McAfee previously occupied a 170,000-square-foot business campus on Preston Road in Plano’s Legacy business park. The company at one time had almost 1,000 workers in the Plano complex.

That building was sold in 2021 to Austin-based Capital Commercial Investments.

Trellix, a $1.7 billion cybersecurity firm created from a merger of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye Security Holdings, also has 85,000 square feet of offices in the Legacy West Urban Village on Headquarters Drive in Plano.

McAfee joins accounting firm Cain Watters & Associates and Comerica Inc. as tenants in the 11-story Frisco office tower.

“What a win for Frisco,” Mayor Jeff Cheney said in a statement. “We are proud to have a global leader like McAfee regionally headquartered in Frisco.”

The office tower where McAfee will move is the latest addition to the $1.5 billion mixed-use Star development that includes the Dallas Cowboys headquarters and practice facilities, retail, office, medical and residential space.

Beverage firm Keurig Dr Pepper also has more than 1,000 employees in a regional headquarters building at The Star.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ Blue Star Land is also building a 15-story office tower in The Star that will accommodate about 2,000 workers for New York-based pension and investment firm TIAA.

McAfee’s move to The Star comes just a week after Florida-based Universal Parks & Resorts announced plans to build an almost 100-acre theme park on the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco.
