An analysis conducted by SecurityWeek shows that more than 450 cybersecurity-related mergers and acquisitions were announced in 2022.
AEI acquires majority stake in RedLattice
Private equity firm AE Industrial Partners (AEI) has acquired a majority stake in RedLattice, a company that provides cyber — including offensive cyber — capabilities for the national security, defense and commercial communities in the United States.
Bema Capital Investments acquires Beryllium
Private equity firm Bema Capital Investments has acquired Beryllium InfoSec, a company that provides compliance and other cybersecurity services to government and defense industrial base organizations.
Beyon Cyber acquires majority stake in DTS Solution
Beyon Cyber, which advertises itself as the most advanced cyber defense operation in Bahrain, has acquired a majority stake in UAE-based DTS Solution, which specializes in cybersecurity advisory, consulting and engineering services. The deal enables Beyon Cyber to expand its geographical footprint and its portfolio.
Bitwarden acquires Passwordless.dev
US-based open source password management solutions provider Bitwarden has announced buying Sweden-based startup Passwordless.dev, which makes it easier for developers to create passwordless authentication features. The deal enables Bitwarden to offer a strong WebAuthn framework to customers.
Cygna Labs acquires NCC Group’s DDI Guard
DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management (DDI) security company Cygna Labs has purchased the DDI Guard business of NCC Group. The deal helps it establish its presence in the UK and further strengthen its intellectual property.
Legal governance, risk and compliance (GRC) company Exterro has acquired e-discovery software provider Zapproved. The companies said their combined offerings will enable organizations to better manage the interconnections of e-discovery, privacy, legal operations, digital investigations, cybersecurity response, and information governance.
Global policy and market intelligence company FiscalNote has acquired UK-based Dragonfly Eye, which specializes in geopolitical and security intelligence, in an effort to expand its portfolio. Dragonfly provides intelligence on a wide range of threats, including cybercrime and damaging cyberattacks. FiscalNote paid $32.8 million for DragonFly.
Fraud prevention and protection firm Forter has acquired bot detection company Immue in an effort to strengthen its fraud management capabilities. Both companies are based in Israel.
Gorilla Technology Group acquires SeeQuestor
Taiwan-based video intelligence, IoT technology and cybersecurity solutions provider Gorilla Technology Group has acquired UK-based SeeQuestor, whose technology turns CCTV video into actionable intelligence.
Iron Bow Technologies acquires GuardSight
Iron Bow Technologies, which provides cybersecurity and other IT solutions to private and government organizations, has announced buying GuardSight in an effort to expand its cybersecurity portfolio with GuardSight’s SecOps and managed detection and response (MDR) capabilities.
Imprivata acquires Ogitix Software
US-based identity security company Imprivata has announced the acquisition of Germany-based identity and access management (IAM) solutions provider Ogitix Software. The deal helps Imprivata expand the presence of its IAM solutions in the DACH region.
Kenyan fintech startup Kwara has acquired Irnet Coop Kenya, a software company and subsidiary of the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives. Irnet said it will bring its cybersecurity and project assurance experience to Kwara.
Lansweeper acquires RankedRight
Belgium-based IT management solutions provider Lansweeper has bought key assets of UK-based vulnerability management firm RankedRight. The acquisition will boost Lansweeper’s capabilities in matching vulnerability data with technology asset data.
Cloud application development solutions provider Mirantis has acquired cloud-native application-as-code platform Shipa, reportedly for between $10 million and $30 million in cash and stock. The deal enables Mirantis to add automated application discovery, operations, security, and observability capabilities to its platform.
Enterprise penetration testing and attack surface management firm NetSPI has acquired Nvisium in an effort to further scale its offensive security solutions. Following the acquisition, NetSPI has more than 450 offensive security experts globally.
Next Solutions Group acquires Wells Tech Advisors
The Next Solutions Group (NSG) has announced the acquisition of Wells Tech Advisors, which will be rebranded as NSG Technologies and focus on DevOps, engineering, quality assurance, application management, and architecture. These services will complement NSG’s corporate reputation management, business intelligence and cybersecurity offerings.
Electronic signature, cloud authentication and mobile app security company OneSpan plans to acquire Australia-based data security firm ProvenDB. OneSpan will use ProvenDB blockchain-based technology to provide an integrated end-to-end assurance model that includes a secure repository for documents and artifacts.
ProArch acquires Trum & Associates
IT consulting and services provider ProArch has purchased Trum & Associates, a data protection company that will help it expand its cybersecurity and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) practices.
RealDefense acquires SuperAntiSpyware
Privacy, security and productivity solutions provider RealDefense has acquired SuperAntiSpyware — known for its malware detection engine — from Support.com. Both companies offer solutions and services for consumers and small businesses. RealDefense plans to “scale SuperAntiSpyware to its full potential”.
Enterprise identity security firm SailPoint Technologies announced buying SecZetta, which specializes in third-party identity risk solutions. SecZetta will help SailPoint expand its capabilities for both employee and non-employee identities.
Simeio acquires PathMaker Group
Identity and access management (IAM) services provider Simeio has acquired identity management firm PathMaker Group. The strategic acquisition will enable Simeio to enhance its capabilities, and expand into new industries and regions.
France-based consulting group Talan has bought UK-based professional services firm Gemserv. Gemserv offers a threat intelligence solution and the companies said the deal will accelerate combined growth in several areas, including cybersecurity.
Cybersecurity solutions provider Tesserent has acquired cybersecurity training business ALC Group for roughly $4 million. Both companies are based in Australia. The deal will enable the Tesserent Academy to “build a profitable business in the cybersecurity training space in the Australasian market”.
Thoma Bravo acquires Magnet Forensics
Private equity giant Thoma Bravo has announced plans to spend $1.3 billion to acquire Canada-based Magnet Forensics, which specializes in digital forensics and incident response.
Consulting and engineering services company Tetra Tech has bought technology services, cybersecurity, and management consulting firm Amyx. Tetra Tech acquired Amyx for its technology applications and cybersecurity services. Amyx will join Tetra Tech’s Federal Information Technology Division.
Totm Technologies acquires InterBIO
Singapore-based end-to-end identity management and biometrics company Totm Technologies has paid $46.1 million to acquire the remaining 49% stake in Singapore-based biometric authentication company InterBIO.
Compliance solutions provider Vanta is boosting the capabilities of its trust management platform with the acquisition of security review automation firm Trustpage.
