Compass Group to expand facility management business here: India MD

New Delhi: The local arm of British multinational Compass Group, which manages large office complexes and food services for corporates, is looking to make India among the top five markets for the company, Vikas Chawla, MD of Compass Group India told ET. The company is looking to expand its facility management business from 2 million sq ft to 10 million sq ft as employees are returning to offices and corporates continue to lease big space.

“In India, the share of the facility management business is much higher than globally and we will continue to expand both the verticals. We believe there is a lot of scope in managing the upcoming office buildings as India continues to supply Grade A office assets,” said Chawla.

Compass Group India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Compass Group and has been servicing the Indian corporate, healthcare, and education market needs since 2008. The British multinational group (member of FTSE 100) is a leading provider of contract food and support services, with a presence in 35 countries and serving more than 96 of the Fortune 100 companies. “For better service to the client, we make sure that the employees we deploy at various buildings are on our payroll and adequately trained,” Chawla said. Compass Group India operates in over 450 locations, serving over 600,000 meals a day and maintaining 160 million sq ft area.

“We continue to design solutions that nourish and maintain workplaces, leverage technology for kitchen automation, digital transformation for facility management, and deliver on consumer needs,” said Chawla.
