Chatham Middle School announces the winners of its 2024 Science & Technology Fair held March 20 in the CMS gym and included entries from students in grades six through eight, with a winner being chosen from each grade. 6th Grade — Miles Schuster: Does outside temperature affect how well solar panels work? 7th Grade — Jack Galvin: What fruit or vegetable have the most energy? 8th Grade — Lucy Tassinari & Logan Van Wie: Which heat protectant is the best? Students developed a hypothesis or technical problem and then used either the Scientific Method or Problem Solving Method, respectively, to prove or disprove their theory or develop a solution to their problem. During the school day, Chatham’s high school and middle school science and technology faculty judged the entries, and classes dropped in to check out the projects.
