BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) — The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China:

NEW SATELLITE

China on Thursday sent a new-generation ocean color monitoring satellite into space to help improve understanding of marine waters.

The satellite was launched by a Long March-2C carrier rocket at 11:55 a.m. (Beijing Time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, and it later successfully entered the planned orbit.

ICAO RECOGNIZES BDS

China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has been recognized as being of the required standard by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), making it a universally accepted navigation system for global civil aviation.

BDS’s technical standards and recommended measures have been added to ICAO’s existing standard documents in Annex 10 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, according to the CAAC News on Wednesday.

LIST OF HIGHLY CITED RESEARCHERS

Over 1,200 Chinese scientists were added to the latest list of highly cited researchers issued by Clarivate, a major global science data analyzer, according to the China Science Daily on Wednesday.

Clarivate on Wednesday released its Highly Cited Researchers 2023 list. A total of 6,849 scientists from more than 1,300 institutions in 67 countries and regions were added to the list, with 83.8 percent coming from 10 countries and regions. Enditem
