Sainsbury’s, Lidl and Aldi didn’t have all of the prices online for all of the items we included which is why we left them out.

Remember this is just a guide based on our research, it is always best to shop around to make sure you are getting the best deal.

These prices are taken from the supermarket’s website, so also bear in mind that sometimes you can get better prices and deals in-store.

You can also use the price comparison site Trolley.co.uk which compares the prices of various items across different retailers.

How to save money on your supermarket shop at Christmas

For some Christmas is the best time of the year and for others, it just means more financial woes.

If you are trying to think of ways you can have a nice Christmas without breaking the bank, there are a few things you can do.

It might be getting a bit late to join a savings scheme, but a number of supermarkets do them, and you can still sign up.

Even if it will not make much difference this year, you can always be thinking ahead to make things a little easier next year.

Morrisons, Asda, Iceland and Sainsbury’s all have Christmas savings schemes.

Meanwhile, if you are a fan of loyalty cards, Christmas might be a good time to use up your points, you might be surprised by how many you have saved up.

Also, choosing the right day to shop could save you some money too.

Black Friday, on November 27, is not far away and many retailers have already started to discount items now.
