Celebrate Women's History Month 2023 | News | New York Tech – New York Institute of Technology


Celebrate women and their many accomplishments during Women’s History Month. Throughout March, the university will host a series of events, including a panel discussion with New York Tech faculty and staff who have published works in science, technology engineering, arts, and math, as well as gatherings where attendees can talk about what it means to be a woman today.  

Women’s History Diva Karaoke

Celebrate Women’s History Month by belting out songs from your favorite musical divas. Whether it be Whitney or Cher, Ariana, or Beyoncé, sing the night away and celebrate powerful women in music.

Eighth Annual She.E.O. Discussion: Embracing Equity

Join us for New York Tech’s Eighth Annual She.E.O. Discussion to honor, cultivate, and strengthen women with whom we work, innovate, and motivate. This year’s theme is Embracing Equity. When we embrace equity, we embrace diversity and we embrace inclusion. We embrace equity to forge harmony and unity, and to help drive success for all. Equality is the goal, and equity is the means to get there. Through the process of equity, we can reach equality.

Presenter: Evette Allen Moore, Ph.D., is the assistant dean of diversity, equity, and inclusion at New York Tech. Moore’s passion for student success and social justice is evident in her research agenda and community activities. Her research focuses on the experiences of students of color in higher education and social justice education and can be found in higher education journals such as the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, Equity and Excellence in Education, and the NASPA Journal about Women in Higher Education.

Libraries Present: Women Publishing in STEAM: A Women’s History Month Celebration

Join a virtual Women’s History Month panel on “women publishing in STEAM.” Hear from New York Tech faculty and staff who published an article, book chapter, or book and be inspired by their creative endeavors and recent accomplishments. Panelists will share their successes as well as the many challenges they faced in pursuing publication, from researching to writing and editing to the publication process.

EmpowHERment Day Luncheon

The Office of Student Life, in partnership with the Office of Development, Alumni Relations, and External Affairs; GirlUp; the South Asian Student Association; and the Black Student Union, invites you to an EmpowHERment Day luncheon and networking event with members of New York Tech’s Women’s Technology Council. Panelists will share important aspects of their current roles and journeys, and then provide time to network and dialogue with students and attendees.

Speakers: Neha Joshi, global managing director for Accenture Security; Farrah Désir, founder and chief executive officer of Creative Form Development; and Stacey Sikes, vice president of government affairs and communications for the Long Island Association.
