Cabinet approves 4% DA hike for govt employees, 7% MSP hike for 6 Rabi crops: Report

The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a 4 per cent hike in dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners, ET Now reported citing sources. Further, the Cabinet also likely approved the minimum selling price (MSP) for six prominent Rabi crops by 7 per cent for the next marketing season.

The Cabinet has likely approved a 7 per cent MSP hike for masur, barley and sunflower.

The Cabinet has given its assent to increase the DA from 42 per cent to 46 per cent, the report said. The government bumps up the DA periodically to keep up with inflation. The revision is usually made in January and July.

The DA for the central government employees is calculated based on the latest Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW).
