Asia/Pacific Digital Infrastructure Predictions for 2023 and Beyond Released by IDC
SINGAPORE, February 16, 2023 – IDC predicts that by 2026, 70% of tech buyers prioritize as-a-service consumption models for infrastructure purchases to help restrain IT spending growth and fill IT Operations talent gaps. This is the first of ten predictions from the recently unveiled IDC FutureScape : Worldwide Future of Digital Infrastructure 2023 Predictions – APEJ Implications.
Further driving efficiency is the deployment of higher levels of automation. Achievement of artificial intelligence for IT operations, the use of AI to manage infrastructure, is still the domain of only a handful of local enterprises and organizations due to underlying issues in basic data management to feed the AI models.
Cybersecurity remains a top concern in this field, too. While the ability to outsource some of the issues and skills exist, it’s not possible to outsource the risk, and so “embedded security” is beginning to accelerate across the region.
“The IT skills shortage is impacting Asia Pacific as much as other markets and this will lead to demands for higher levels of automation and ‘as-a-service’ offerings,” says Simon Piff, Vice President, Research, IDC Asia Pacific, “Whilst as-a-service is quite well understood, the goal of AIOps is still a long way off for Asia Pacific organizations due to issues in the quality of more fundamental data management techniques”.
