If you are trying and failing to send emails today from your BT account then you are definitely not alone. It seems hundreds of BT email users are having serious issues with the popular service with many left unable to log in or check their messages. The gremlins appear to have begun at around 9am and are still ongoing. BT says it is aware of the troubles and has apologies for “any inconvenience.”
Down Detector, which monitors issues across the globe, is currently showing over 1,000 reports of problems – that means this is a major outage that’s affecting a lot of people. Speaking on Down Detector’s forum page, BT user Gill said: “BT email down again.” Whilst BT customer Ian added he could not get online this morning due to, “Too many requests”.
Many BT email users have also now rushed to social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustrations at the glitch.
One user named Ian asked: “Is anyone else unable to log in to the BT Email system?” Whilst another called Sue added: “#BT emails down again, not what I expect from a paid for service.”
A screenshot posted by a BT email customer shows an error message that reads, “We are experiencing issues with the service, please try again later.”
There’s currently no word on what’s causing the gremlins or when they will be fixed but Express.co.uk has contacted BT and will update this article as soon as we hear more.
In a reply sent via a user on X, BT has now confirmed it is aware of the problems. “We’re aware of an issue impacting BT Webmail and we’re working to fix this. You can access your email via BT Email app or any client email. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused,” the firm said.
