If you have been wondering what’s new with the Apple Watch Series 9 and whether not it is worth your hard-earned cash then here’s a rundown of everything that is new with the device.
Apple announced on September 12 2023 that the new Series 9 would feature an all-new S9 processor – Apple’s most powerful watch chip yet and it delivers systemwide improvements and brand-new features.
The power efficiency of the S9 SiP allows Apple Watch Series 9 to maintain all-day 18-hour battery life and it has a new 4-core Neural Engine that can process machine learning tasks up to twice as fast.
The new watch also boosts the maximum brightness up to 2,000 nits — double Series 8 — so it’s easier to read in full sun and has Siri baked into the device so it can perform quicker tasks without waiting for internet connection.
One of the brand new features in the watch is the Double Tap feature. When you’re walking around with hands full of shopping or dogs in one hand, Double Tap allows you to perform actions without needing your other hand.
It controls the primary button in an app so it can be used to stop a timer, play and pause music, or snooze an alarm. The gesture can be used to answer and end a phone call, and even to take a photo with the Camera Remote on Apple Watch.
As well as this, Siri requests can now be processed on device. For requests that do not require information from the internet, such as starting a workout or setting a timer, Siri does not rely on Wi-Fi or cellular networks, resulting in quicker and more reliable responses.
It is also Apple’s first carbon-neutral watch thanks to innovations in materials, clean energy and low-carbon shipping when you pair it with a certain watch strap.
Apple Watch packaging has been redesigned to be 100 percent fibre-based, and a new logo on the packaging indicates models that are carbon neutral.
