Bayern Munich add Bitpanda as first-ever crypto trading partner – SportsPro – SportsPro Media

German soccer champions Bayern Munich have announced Bitpanda as their official crypto trading partner.

Contract:

  • Multi-year deal also sees Bitpanda named new platinum partner, the second tier of the club’s sponsorship portfolio
  • Firm to be present at all Bayern home matches

Context:

Bitpanda becomes Bayern’s first-ever official crypto trading partner, although the Bundesliga giants have previously collaborated with sports blockchain company Sorare. The club’s other platinum partners include Allianz, Konami and Visit Rwanda.

This deal marks Austria-based Bitpanda’s most high-profile sports sponsorship since its deal with the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) ended. The firm was also named a premium sponsor of the World Padel Tour (WPT) in 2022, though no longer partners with the organisation.

Bitpanda laid off 35 per cent of its workforce in June 2022, a move the company said was necessary to ‘ensure that we stay true to Bitpanda’s mission and keep building the leading investment platform in Europe and beyond’.

Comment:

“Bitpanda stands for quality and a long-term perspective,” said Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen. “Like FC Bayern, Bitpanda is also the market leader in its field. We want to achieve our goals together in the future.”

Coming next:

Bayern, who are currently second in the Bundesliga, next face Werder Bremen at Allianz Arena on 21st January.
