Auto retail sales witness 21 pc growth in 2023 in Northeast India


Guwahati: Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) said that Northeast India in 2023 in sale of vehicles registered YoY growth of 20.86 percent in comparison to 2022 while the all India growth stood at 6.30 percent.

The YoY growth in Assam was 30.37 percent, Arunachal Pradesh recorded growth of 21.75 percent, Meghalaya 40.45 percent, Nagaland 22.42 percent, Manipur 38.61 percent, Mizoram 22.03 percent and Tripura 13.61 percent.

In compare of April to July 2022, Manipur in April to July 2023 has registered dip of 50.10 percent. FADA had its meeting in Guwahati.

President of FADA Manish Raj Singhania who was in Guwahati on Saturday said, “Post covid Northeast India is witnessing huge increase in the sale of vehicles. Government’s investment in infrastructure has contributed hugely in this.”
He added, “ We are expecting bumper sale in the festive season. We have requested the government to lower the GST on the entry level two wheelers.” He added Assam has implemented that Central Motor Vehicles Rules. “ We urge the other Northeastern states to implement the rules and this will enhance the ease of doing business in the states.”
