Delays in naming Australia’s next central bank governor may limit his options to local candidates, and could see incumbent Philip Lowe get an extension. Lowe, whose seven-year term expires Sept. 17, has faced criticism over his policy guidance and communications.
New Zealand’s Prime Minister Chris Hipkins continues his visit China today. The PM took two air force jets with him on the trip, in case the one he was traveling in broke down. Opposition parties said the need to take a second aircraft was an environmental embarrassment to the country and illustrated the poor state of its defense force.
