The Central government on Thursday slashed jet fuel or ATF prices by Rs 1,221 per kl in the national capital ahead of the much anticipated Interim Budget. This is the fourth straight monthly reduction in jet fuel prices.
After the latest revision, ATF prices for domestic airlines stood at Rs 1,00,772.17 per kl in Delhi, Rs 1,09,797.33 per kl in Kolkata, Rs 94,246.00 per kl in Mumbai, and Rs 1,04,840.19 in Chennai.
The new prices will be applicable from February 1.
The reduction in the price of jet fuel, which makes up for 40 per cent of an airline’s operating cost, will ease the burden on already financially strained airlines.
Moreover, the cost of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been hiked by Rs 14. The hike in prices specifically affects the 19-kilogram commercial LPG gas cylinders, witnessing a surge of Rs 14. This move in LPG prices is poised to have implications on various sectors and businesses relying on commercial LPG for their operations.State-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise cooking gas and ATF prices on the 1st of every month, based on the average international price in the previous month.
