YPSILANTI, MI — Eastern Michigan University’s Center for Digital Engagement is accepting applications for 48 paid internship positions offered through its annual Digital Summer Clinic.
The clinic, running for 9 weeks from mid-June to mid-August, offers practical internship opportunities suited for the working student. The clinic delivers real-world programming for 10 hours per week, paying interns $18/hour.
The main project involves pairing interns with start-up companies in the Ann Arbor SPARK Incubator to complete various digital marketing tasks, from developing websites to content creation and advertising
“Smaller and medium-sized companies have had a harder time in the labor market, so I think it will be strong for our students and employers alike,” said Bud Gibson, professor and director of the Center for Digital Engagement. “And I’m anticipating some good outcomes.”
In addition to working with their start-up company, interns will be guided in curating their professional portfolio and earning their certification in an approved digital platform, such as Google Analytics. Interns will also attend weekly coaching sessions with visiting mentors from a variety of industries pertaining to the digital workforce.
“We’ve managed to attract mentors from companies like Google, Pinterest, Duo Security, and Zingerman’s who are dedicated to helping interns from every background succeed,” Gibson said.
Applications, open to all college students and recent graduates in Southeast Michigan, are being accepted through April 30 and can be accessed here.
