Apple Sued by Irish Firm for Infringing Security Software Patent – Bloomberg Law


Lionra Technologies Ltd. claims in a complaint filed in a federal court in Texas that Apple Inc. infringes its patent in a security device it uses in Apple Pay and other products.

On the same day, Lionra also sued Cisco Systems Inc. and Fortinet Inc. for allegedly infringing other computer-security patents it holds.

The patent at issue in the Apple suit filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas dates back to 2010, and Lionra obtained it by assignment. The patent is for a method and apparatus for using a secret in a distributed computing system. …
