Apple Fined €8m by French Data Watchdog Over App Store Violation – Bloomberg Law

Apple Inc. was fined €8 million ($8.5 million) euros by France’s data protection regulator after a probe into personalized adverts on the tech giant’s app store found violations of French rules on an older version of the iPhone.

  • CNIL said it found that under the version of the 14.6 iPhone operating system “when a user visited the App Store, identifiers for several purposes, including the personalization of advertisements displayed on the App Store, were automatically read on the terminal by default without consent.”
