Apple has revealed which games are the first to be added to its Arcade subscription service in 2024. January’s titles are Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom, Cornsweeper and Blackjack by MobilityWare+. All three titles join Arcade on January 4.
Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom is a new title from Bandai Namco, an open world adventure game set on Tamagotchi planet. It appears to be a cozy title similar to Hello Kitty Island Adventure, as players can explore, meet characters and build their own cozy camp. The goal is to restore the kingdom with hero Mametchi after an unspecified calamity.
Cornsweeper was originally announced for Apple Arcade last April, before developer wbuttr delayed the title. It’s the work of a single developer, and is, as the name suggests, Minesweeper but with corn. Players have to pop kernels while avoiding buttery-yellow explosions, all set to the sound of reggae-infused lo-fi tunes. According to Apple, the game takes inspiration from wbuttr’s Jamaican heritage and is localized in the Patois dialect.
The final game is a familiar one: Blackjack, as brought to mobile by Mobilityware. It’s the classic card game with a few extra twists, including a leaderboard and multiple locations, as well as a “table run” progression system that allows players to unlock new tables.
