The tip, about the rear-view mirror, was revealed by motorist Chequanxiaoqiao.

Her 52-second TikTok reveals that the switch sitting at the bottom of the mirror allows the driver to change its angle.

At night, this could be crucial to a driver’s safety as it can deflect other drivers’ glaring lights from their eyes.

It would also allow them to see the traffic behind them easier.

Chequanxiaoqiao titled the clip: ‘Only 5% of People Know These 10 Secret Car Features’.

The handy clip, posted in 2023, has now been seen 8.7 million times.

Commenters were shocked to learn what the motorist had to teach them.

“Why I’m I learning this now,” said one.

Another said: “wait a min…. u mean to tell there was an anti glare function all the nights I nearly drove off the road.”

Chequanxiaoqiao also reveals another tip on how to reduce glare coming from the side of the car.

She also shows drivers how to change the angle of the steering wheel, how to adjust the height of the seatbelt, and how to turn on child safety locks.

Research has found that 18 per cent of drivers struggle to see clearly when on the road in dark.

“The winter months can be difficult for drivers, with darkness often causing poor visibility for many.

“This could be down to a variety of factors, but things like bright LED headlights from other vehicles can cause problems.”

Thomas also recommends that drivers flick the rear-view mirror tab and shift the angle of the glare.

“It also helps to keep your windscreens free of dirt as this often creates glare too,” she says.

Meanwhile, a car expert has shared a little-known trick he uses to defog his windscreen.

Mechanic Scotty Kilmer says although it may not seem like the time to check air conditioning refrigerant gas in the middle of winter, it is.
