Alluxio, the data platform company for data-driven workloads, is unveiling Alluxio Enterprise AI, a high-performance data platform designed to unify performance, data accessibility, scalability, and cost efficiency in powering AI and machine learning (ML) workloads. Supporting a variety of use cases—from generative AI (GenAI) to computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), high-performance data analytics, and more—Alluxio Enterprise AI reinvigorates enterprise infrastructure to handle the rising needs of AI and ML.
Despite AI and ML’s seemingly rapid technological progression, many enterprises are lagging behind, burdened by legacy infrastructures that cannot support next-gen, data-intensive AI workloads.
Whether the detrimental factor of legacy systems is low performance, data accessibility, GPU scarcity, complex data engineering, underutilized resources, or a combination of the former, aging, archaic systems and rapid AI evolution exist as a disastrous dichotomy.
Where there is inefficiency, there is innovation; Alluxio Enterprise AI is designed to remediate the growing gap between enterprise structures and desires for AI, empowering businesses to achieve the following objectives:
- High-performance model training and deployment for rapid business results
- Seamless data access for workloads across regions and clouds
- Infinite scalability that has been battle-tested at internet giant’s scale
- Maximized ROI by working with existing tech stacks instead of costly specialized storage
“This is specifically designed for the needs of deep learning and model training in general. So, when we talk about this product, we’re talking about folks who are training and fine-tuning their models,” explained Adit Madan, director of product management at Alluixo.
Alluxio Enterprise AI is the next-gen iteration of Alluxio Enterprise Edition, building from the latter’s years of distributed systems experience, according to the vendor. Built with a new, innovative distributed system architecture (DORA), accompanied by decentralized metadata to eliminate bottlenecks while accessing large quantities of small files, Alluxio Enterprise AI is specifically tailored to handle the demands of AI and ML workloads—all from a single pane of glass.
“Our approach, in terms of how we are doing this from an architectural standpoint, is very different,” said Madan. “And that’s one of the things that makes us stand out in this world of trying to serve high performance, which [is a problem that] has been around for a while but not purposefully solved for the specific kinds of workloads that we’re really talking about here.”
On top of its enhanced model training and serving, Alluxio Enterprise AI offers distributed caching for high read and write performance, caching strategies tailored to the I/O patterns of AI engines, seamless data access, sharing, and management, and support for analytics and full ML pipelines—from ingestion to ETL and pre-processing.
Additionally, Alluxio Enterprise AI can be integrated with existing AI infrastructures that contain AI compute engines and data lake storage. The solution would sit between compute and storage, working across model training and model serving in the ML pipeline for optimized speed and cost.
According to Alluxio, with this latest solution, enterprises can see up to 20x faster training speed compared to commodity storage, up to 10x accelerated model serving, over 90% GPU utilization, and up to 90% lower costs for AI infrastructure.
“Performance, cost optimization, and GPU utilization are critical for optimizing next-generation workloads as organizations seek to scale AI throughout their businesses,” said Mike Leone, analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. “Alluxio has a compelling offering that can truly help data and AI teams achieve higher performance, seamless data access, and ease of management for model training and model serving.”
