Airtel’s B2B arm surpasses 20 million connected IoT devices mark: Report

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel’s business-to-business (B2B) arm, Airtel Business, has surpassed 20 million connected Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Mint reported citing data from Frost & Sullivan. According to Frost & Sullivan data, Airtel’s B2B arm had a 54.3% share in this market in FY23, the publication reported.

The second-ranked telecom operator has won key deals to boost its lead in the IoT space, including a deal to deploy 1.3 million smart meters in Bihar on NB-IoT, and also bagged a similar win with TP Western Odisha Distribution, a joint venture of the Odisha government and Tata Power, for deploying 200,000 smart meters, and a tie-up with Matter Motor Works to run 300,000 bikes with cellular IoT.

“With efficient and cost-effective automated IoT solutions, we are at the forefront of empowering enterprises to extend reach to the remotest parts on our secure platform as they scale businesses. We will continue to partner enterprises to enable their digital transformation journey with our innovative IoT solutions,” Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, chief executive officer, Airtel Business, was quoted as saying in the report.

Airtel’s IoT business includes solutions such as asset tracking, vehicle telematics, industrial asset monitoring, smart metering, among others, for which customised solutions are being provided for enterprises across 5G, 4G, NB-IoT, 2G, and satellite, Mint reported.
