Aeries Software to Pay $1.75 Million Over Breach of Student Data – Bloomberg Law


Aeries Software Inc. will pay $1.75 million to settle allegations that its negligence led to a January 2020 data breach exposing the information of nearly 100,000 students, parents, and guardians at two school districts in Southern California.

Anurag Gupta and Melinda Tomes claimed the data breach occurred because Aeries failed to implement reasonable safeguards and failed to comply with industry-standard data security practices.

Judge Fernando M. Olguin of the US District Court for the Central District of California gave final approval to the deal March 3.
