CHEEKY toy elves, often found on shelves, have returned to homes to keep an eye on children for Santa.
But don’t despair about finding things for them to do, Lana Clements has 24 cheap and easy ideas to employ the little tricksters – that’s one a day until Christmas.
1. Sit one in a bra stuck on the wall with a “Help, booby trap” note.
2.Place in flour, making elf “snow angels”.=
3. Put with a satsuma and a note, saying “Sprinkle dust and wait 24 hours for magic.” Then next day the fruit is a chocolate orange.
4. Sit with a box of eggs, drawing funny faces on each one.
5. Put on a piece of toast with an “It’s cold outside but I’m toasty here” note.
6. Play Scrabble, spelling out “Be better behaved”.
7. With a pair of crocs and “Don’t feed the crocs” note.
8. Put with a box and note, saying “You’ve got to give to get. Please fill the box with toys you don’t use so they can be donated to Santa’s grotto”.
9. Sit one in the frying pan with fried eggs sweets.
10. Wrap it up with an iPad in cling film and a “Santa says no iPad today” note.
11. Make it feed bread to toy ducks in a sink.
12. Sit it with toy cars arranged in the shape of a snowman.
13. Put it next to a toilet roll that says “Have a smelly little Christmas”.
14. Make it climb on a wall with sticky star gift bows.
15. Sit the elf with lipstick in hand and smeared on its face.
16. Place next to a book with a “Read me a story” message.
17. Put with a couple of smashed sweets and a note that says “Candy crush”.
18. Sit one with a note, saying “Jingle bells, Batman smells” and a Batman toy with note saying “No, I don’t.”
19. Have the elf holding a toothbrush near “brush your teeth” written on a mirror.
20. Place next to a pair of pants and some Smarties with a “Hello, Smartie Pants” note.
21. Put elf in a Pringles tube with a hole for the face and leave crisps scattered around.
22. Place in washing machine with an “SOS” message on the drum window.
23. Put toilet paper on the Christmas tree and hide the elf inside the loo roll.
24. Put next to a plate with “Merry Xmas” written on it in ketchup.
