What we like

Great Noise Cancellation

The 1More SonoFlow deliver impressive ANC for the price.

In a busy and hectic world, noise cancellation is of the utmost importance and the SonoFlow definitely deliver solid performance. They eliminated airplane engine noise and while chatter could still be heard in a cafe setting, they did an adequate job minimizing it (talking frequencies are notoriously difficult to eliminate, even for our favorite noise-canceling headphones). Listening to music was easily able to cover any extraneous sounds that made it through the ANC

A button on the SonoFlow can be used to turn noise canceling on and off. Although for more functionality, the 1More Music app allows you to toggle between ANC on, transparency mode, and ANC off. I noticed a major difference between ANC mode being on and off, and I was seriously impressed with the enhanced noise-canceling ANC mode offered.

The SonoFlow also performed well on calls. I could always be heard clearly, even when outside in windy conditions.

Long battery life

The SonoFlow offer a staggering 70 hours of playtime with ANC off (50 with it on). Even with frequent use during a month of testing, there was close to 40 percent of battery life left.

When the headphones are turned on, a voice indicates whether the battery is high, medium, or low—and the exact battery percentage is displayed in the 1More Music app. If you do need a quick charge, the SonoFlow provide five hours of listening from just 5 minutes of charging.

Affordability

It can be hard to find a decent pair of headphones that cancel out noise well without feeling like you’re draining your bank account. The fact that these headphones come in under $100 is a steal for all of the features you get, especially considering the battery life surpasses significantly more expensive headphones.

Features in the 1More Music app

The 1More Music app has a good selection of additional features to get the most out of your listening experience. Aside from the three listening modes, there’s a wide range of equalizers to fit different songs or genres. There are bass booster and bass reducer options along with studio, podcast, pop, Hip-Hop, and more to enhance different ranges of frequencies. There’s even a 10-band equalizer to tailor the sonic experience further.

The app also includes a variety of Soothing Sounds such as Summer Rain, Thunderstorm, Waves, and more. This is great for those who meditate often or are looking for a momentary respite. I’ve found it to be incredibly helpful for winding down after work or a hectic day running errands.

What we don’t like

Not for bass lovers

I gravitate towards headphones that emphasize bass, like the Skullcandy Crusher Evo, and the SonoFlow were a letdown for me. The headphones do offer clear sound, but if you’re someone that thrives on deep, driving bass it was hard to be immersed in the sound without that low-end support.

The Bass Booster feature in the 1More Music app didn’t provide the significant difference I was after over the regular bass mode. The same could be said for the Bass Reducer option, but when you’re looking for more bass there’s no reason to reduce it.

Cheap material

The plastic materials feel a bit brittle and susceptible to breaking.

The most noticeable drawback of the SonoFlow is the cheap feel of the material. They’re made of low-quality plastic that feel as though they could easily snap if enough pressure is applied. If I needed to adjust the headphones at all, the sound transferred through to my ears and I could clearly hear my fingers sliding across the ear cup, even with music at a high volume

Should you buy the 1More SonoFlow?

Yes, if you want impressive ANC under $100.

The 1More SonoFlow headphones combine solid ANC, good sound, and value in one package.

The SonoFlow are a solid pair of headphones for those on a budget. They are a great option for travelers, with impressive noise canceling for the price, and they include interesting features to let you focus, such as ambient nature noises through the 1More app.

If you’re looking for headphones with driving bass you’d be better off with the Skullcandy Crusher Evo, as even with some EQ tweaking the SonoFlow don’t deliver the kind of response for bass-heavy music like Hip Hop and rock.

However, if good noise cancellation is your primary concern and you don’t want to break the bank to get it, then the Sonoflow are sure to meet your expectations. Frequent travelers will appreciate them and they’re a great pair for anyone needing a bit more peace and quiet.
